Liquid sands

When I was a kid I was obsessed with quicksand. Okay, more like terrified of quicksand - fearing that one day I would be walking down the street and fall into a pit of innocent looking sand that would devour me whole. Thank goodness for cognitive behaviour therapy. Anyways, part of my treatment plan has involved exposing myself to certain sand-like situations and taking long, deep breaths. Lately, I have been wearing this Life With Bird 'liquid sands' dress while saying, 'I am not afraid, I am not afraid,' over and over again.

So if, like me, you are struggling with a fear of quicksand, I highly recommend this approach.

Good luck.

History makes fashion

Did you know that rayon was created in the 1930s and became the go-to fabric for 1940s ladies living during World War 2?

Thankfully we don't have a world war to worry about, but this full circle dress by TL Wood is inspired by 1940s tailoring, is silk-lined and yes, the outside is 100% rayon! Such a stylish way to get through winter, don't you think?

Yes, I'm dreaming

So I'd rather be relaxing on a beach in Bali right now but if all else fails I can at least dress the part. Even with lots of layers and a great pair of ankle boots, this Something Else t-shirt dress still reminds me of warm sunny days.

The End

I have a polar fleece jacket I wore while back packing around Eastern Europe ten years ago. It is hideous. But indestructible. Which means that I can't justify throwing it out because there is nothing wrong with it, other than the fact that whenever I put it on I feel mighty ugly.

Life with Bird call this coat 'The End.' I'm thinking it might be the end of all polar fleece garments. The ones living in my house, anyways. Thank you very much.

Livvy blouse

Maybe it's because she's the daughter of an ageing rocker, but I can't help but love Liv Tyler. Did anyone see her on The Rachel Zoe project aeons ago? She totally rocked a polka-dot playsuit, which is no easy feat if you ask me. And while she is a super-rich celebrity with famous parents, I still feel like we might be friends if we met in real life.

So even though this Viktoria & Woods blouse may not be named after the lovely Liv, I like to imagine that perhaps it really is.

Can you see Kate in these?

I wish Will and Kate were a little more edgy. I mean, who wants to look like they're about to attend a bank manager's dinner party every single day of the week? When they are 20-something! When they could easily afford to wear shoes like these amazing booties from Opening Ceremony? I mean, I know Fergie's daughters are kind of tragic, but at least those crazy hats were amusing.

Sigh.

Royalty is seriously wasted on some people.
